Language audits

Language professionals and/or translation agencies that have grown organically or through acquisition may find at a certain point that their business processes are fragmented, duplicated, non-transparent or simply create too much overhead.

Indeed in many companies translation is often a “black hole” with ownership spread over many working groups and in many cases spread over different facilities, divisions and countries. An additional challenge is that the managers of these working groups often prefer to keep their own local control and are reluctant to cooperate in any new initiatives.

It therefore makes business sense to have a third party company, with a central authority, to ask the right questions, interview the correct people and discuss at local level to understand local requirements. It is our experience that the resulting changes will have a better chance of success if the stakeholders have participated in the change process.

Our Language Audits aim at determining opportunities for the rationalisation and improvement of processes, resource utilisation and the deployment of translation technologies. It also serves as an instrument to predict potential savings from the recommended solutions and becomes a reference point for post-implementation ROI calculations.

CrossLang has completed audits for many companies in IT, telecom, life sciences, manufacturing and language services sectors for both global multi-site operations and single locations. Our approach is solution driven, pragmatic and with a distinct focus on return on investment.
