Crowdsourcing Platforms
Traditionally, translations are to be produced by experienced, professional native speakers. Nowadays however, companies start to realise that for some content types the volumes are too big, the lifecycle of the message too short or the ROI of an additional language version not feasible to adopt the traditional approach...
Also for translation the potential for web-based crowdsourcing has existed for many years, but it wasn't until the emergence of new web applications that the capabilities for crowdsourcing techniques became visible.
CrossLang has developed YOOsource, a simple and user-friendly translation and post-editing platform that also enables non-professional translators to contribute to the translation of websites in an efficient manner. They, too, are supported through the use of various translation technologies, such as translation memories, terminology databases and machine translation. The platform can be integrated with the client's Content Management System so the content to be translated can be sent directly to the translation workflow and – at the end of the cycle – the translation can be published immediately. There is also the possibility to upload MS Office files via the web portal.
