Programme
Information is driving every business and organisation. With information volumes growing and information lifecycles getting shorter, customers need greater flexibility to process higher volumes in shorter deadlines. And the competition is heating up, causing fierce price wars in the translation industry. The cost of producing and translating every word is now under heavy pressure.
The obvious answer to these challenges is to automate processes and use tools to speed up the translation cycle, reduce costs and boost quality.
In this seminar, Cross Language will present the latest state-of-the-art technologies for:
- Quality Management: High quality translation services involve more than just the linguistic quality of the output. Customers expect responsiveness, just in time services, financial precision, and where possible, friendly relations. Quality management should therefore aim to overcome obsolete, duplicated or error-prone tasks at every stage of the process, by replacing them with “best practice” alternatives. This way, you will find that quality is actually a cost reducing – not boosting – factor.
- Vendor Management: Most LSPs apply a fully outsourced or mixed resource model. This makes vendor management one of the most critical activities for a translation company. How do you find the right translator for your new project, how can you test their skills beforehand, and keep the vendor database up to date? Learn about the latest developments in resource management, availability tracking and financial reporting.
- Terminology Management: Everyone knows that accurate and consistent terminology usage is vital for translation quality. But it means more than having a glossary somewhere on your local hard drive. Terminology should made directly available for all stakeholders in the translation process and beyond to benefit the entire product globalisation process.
- Machine Translation: LSPs have to deliver ever growing volumes of faster and cheaper translations. Statistical and rule-based, automated translation systems are technologies that can make all the difference.
- Validation Management: Having translations validated by in-country subject matter experts can be a real burden: in many cases, there is no clear and consistent method and the resources do not have the tools to implement changes efficiently. This can have a major impact for the translation company, which will have to update the translation memories as well the final publications. How can we feedback work from translators and how can we convince customers that the initial translation wasn’t so bad?
