Machine Translation (MT) when deployed correctly can be a powerful business instrument to increase productivity and save costs. Language professionals can use the technology as an additional production tool, complementary to their other CAT (Computer Aided Translation) tools to help translators to consistently reach a higher throughput. It’s not a complicated process but there are a few conditions for success:

• Quality: there is a direct relationship between the quality of the MT output and the productivity increase achieved - the better the output, the less corrections to implement, and the less time it takes to produce a publishable translation.
  
• Integration: the pre-translated segments have to be presented in the translator's regular editing environment and no manual permutations and conversions should take place
  
• Cost: the investment should be less than the potential cost savings  - otherwise there is no ROI. The pricing model should be transparent and in line with the entire translation production cost.
